Return from Qatar to Greece. (May 2017)
The renovation of our private practice, started in June of 2016, thus this was the time that upon the end of our contract with HAMAD MEDICAL Corp., would see its end. The Clinic was rebuilt from the beginning preparing us for the new challenges and targets. New technology including informatics leading to a almost paperless daily operation was incorporated satisfying the demands of contemporary Dentistry aiming to the streamlining of information and safety of the personal information of the patients. Further more, devices for more painless local anesthesia, clinical operations under higher magnifications resulting into greater detail smaller operating fields, thus less patient discomfort and accelerated healing, devices as Piezo surgical and implant units, Ostell device that measures with tangible data the Osseointegration of implants new or older, proper use of Nd:YAG Laser for optimal results with less discomfort and better healing. This new technology along with the personal investment to knowledge and literature based clinical decision, gives us the power to listen understand patients’ needs, diagnose, treatment plan and further proceed to treatments that give measurable care and treatment for the patients who suffer from periodontal or peri-implant diseases.

Diplomate of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (May 2016)
Case submission of cases. The process requires an immense number of fully documented cases which would many years of devotion to dental implant treatment planning, thinking and performance including successes and failures out of which the candidate should be ready to elaborate and present twenty cases chosen by the board of the Congress of Oral Implantologists. This certification was achieved under the great Periodontist Dr. Jon Suzuki.

Board Certification process commenced by submission of cases under the EAO strict guidelines. Followed by their evaluation by the responsible Board of Examiners. Once all the cases were uploaded to the EAO template and these were successfully accepted by the Board then we were given the right to proceed to the written Examination. Upon successfully completing the written part of the Exam then we were called to present our previously submitted cases to the Board Examiners assigned by the EAO. Proudly we became one of the five Board Certified EAO colleagues for 2016.

Dallas, Texas. The biggest day had started. The years of preparation are over. May 8 of 2015 was the day, that would place us in front of the most important figures in our specialty. They could ask anything they wanted. The feeling of answering their questions, or the fear of not remembering even a small detail was there would be devastating first for ourselves. The examiners were only conducting the process. The real examiner was ourselves. Very special moment. After two sessions with four Examiners when the timer filled the room with its happy noise, I was allowed to ask one question: “Could we continue with more questions?”. Stress gave way to happiness. The long wait was replaced by joy. We knew we gave the best of ourselves. Proud to carry the Greek flag with us to Dallas. We felt we had done well. However we had to wait till the Board would decide after 4-6 weeks.

Most probably the proudest moment in our professional career. After becoming a Periodontist at Penn, the biggest honor is to become a Diplomate of the AAP. Although this might be the pinnacle of examinations in our field, this was seen as the platform of contemporary knowledge to continue to other board examinations. The feeling of belonging to the Elite of our Professional Specialty is unsurpassed feeling a Periodontist can have.

Upon our return from the United States to Greece we started a private practice which has been limited up the present time to the specialty of Periodontics and Implant Dentistry. Since that time our Clinic was renovated in 2016-2017.
